Academy Awards Klan Rally

The Oscars Klan Rally

#OscarsSoWhite

Well it’s that time of year again, time for the annual klan rally known as the Academy Awards. This year the trending controversy has been over the race of the nominees, which is not surprising considering the racist origins of the so-called Oscars.

Connect the dots:

  • The first special Honorary Award presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences was presented to The Jazz Singer in 1927, the pioneering talkie motion picture starring Al Jolson notoriously performing in ‘blackface’
  • The first individual filmmaker to be presented a statuette for distinguished creative achievement was D.W. Griffith in 1935, among Griffith’s substantial credits is the epic film The Birth of a Nation (1915) notorious for it’s glorification of the Klu Klux Klan
  • The Academy has maintained an extreme white majority with only 6.4% of acting nominees being non-white since the Awards began in 1929 (According to Time Labs)

Now in 2016 a white wash controversy has rocked the movie industry with recognized players promoting a boycott. Among the leading figures of the #OscarsSoWhite trend are the Jada Pinkett Smith, Spike Lee, and Michael Moore, with these dots:

Jada Pinkett Smith

  • Upset her husband Will Smith wasn’t nominated for his 2015 movie ‘Concussion‘ after receiving a Golden Globe nomination and critical acclaim
  • the original Aunt Viv on Fresh Prince of Bel Air actress Janet Hubert posted a rebuttal hinting at an ulterior agenda
  • offspring Jaden Smith also recently did a life swerve going from rising star Hollywood leading man to transgender fashion model
  • A highly acclaimed documentary from last year that failed to receive an Oscar nom ‘Going Clear‘ exposes the secret society of Scientology, TV actress Leah Remini new book Troublemaker blows the whistle on the Scientology Celebrity Center, the Smiths are controversially connected with and may’ve also recently gone through a breakup with Scientology to recoup substantial donations?

Spike Lee

  • Coincidentally, Spike Lee accepted the Oscars special Honorary Award for lifetime achievement a few months ago at the 2015 Governors Awards
  • Spike Lee thanked Cheryl Boone Isaacs the current President of Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, a woman of colour for “trying to bring some flavour up in here”
  • Spike Lee’s 2015 movie Chi-Raq received some critical acclaim but no Oscar nominations
  • Renowned Canadian filmmaker and freemason Norman Jewison recounts in his autobiography This Terrible Business Has Been Good to Me the movies he’d been developing that were intercepted by Spike Lee, who went on to make Malcolm X but had the controversial story of Nat Turner shelved indefinitely. Until this last month when a feature film based on the Nat Turner slave rebellion won the Sundance Film Festival, coincidentally the film is also titled The Birth of a Nation (2016), he may also be upset that a debut filmmaker Nate Parker is getting credited for this one

Michael Moore

It’s clear that the above ringleaders have more important things on their minds, plus personal beefs over past recognitions. But could this all be a cover for the Academy which operates like an elite masonic secret society? As renowned actor Cuba Gooding Jr. explained the shoulder tap process;

“You’re invited to join the membership if your nominated or you win, but you still have to be accepted. It’s like you put up your application… You’re not automatically in. And by the way I was a member before I was nominated… The only requirements when I applied was that you have two Academy members, members of the Academy sponsor you.”

Maybe Spike Lee did the right thing by planning on going to the Knicks basketball game instead of the Academy Awards. But for all the hype over #OscarsSoWhite it’s notable that the two most revered past protests were by ‘lily white’ actors who declined their wins:

  • Marlon Brando won Best Actor in 1973 for The Godfather sent a First Nations performer to accept on his behalf with a speech highlighting the ongoing genocide of American Indians especially by the media
  •  George C. Scott won Best Actor in 1971 for Patton after having informed the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences via telegram that he would reject the Award and describing the ceremony as “a two-hour meat parade”

With so many dots connecting it’s sure to be a spectacle lampooned by this year’s host Chris Rock, so stay tuned. Expect the show to be rife with occult symbolism like the golden Oscar statuettes themselves were stolen symbols from Kemet in Ancient Egypt, as Professor Griff explains in this broadcast of Underground Railroad Radio:
